Her diverse activities in music have included residencies
at Hyatt and Crowne Plaza hotels in Australia and recording
and performance sessions with singers and instrumentalists.
She has written radio jingles, directed music and performed
in music theatre, written a book of reharmonised standards
known somewhat piquantly as The UNreal Book (now out
of print), and appeared onstage several times in Delhi
as part of the ensemble MDL. Her performance activity
in Pune started with Uncle Crow in 2006. In the same
year, she featured with the Sidewinders, a Pune-based
jazz ensemble, at the Jazz Utsav in Mumbai and Delhi.
A deep-thinking and sophisticated musician, Rose holds
a B Ed in music education from the University of Canberra,
and an Advanced Degree in Jazz Studies (Performance)
from the Australian National University.
Rose is particularly inspired by the legacy of Bill
Evans, a quintessential innovator in the history of
jazz piano. Other influences include Thelonius Monk,
Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea. Apart from music, she
retains an avid enthusiasm for long-distance motorcycling,
with thousands of kilometers logged all over Australia
and India. She is keenly interested in all performing
arts, and has actually been part of the cast for a long-running
Pakistani television serial during a stay in that country,
though, admittedly, her attempts at jazz peformance
were overcome by the Pakistani penchant for Qawali!
