JAYANT S
Silverchops features Jayant on guitar and fretless bass.
He welcomes the expressive and improvisational freedom
that the ensemble provides on both instruments, and
the opportunity to explore diversity in style.
Jayant cannot identify any single dominant musical influence,
but has learned from the work of John McLaughlin, Bill
Evans, Larry Carlton, Chick Corea, Frank Zappa, Eddie
Gomez, and the Cuban composer-conductor Leo Brouwer.
He regards originality, texture and form as the most
important ingredients of music, and his approach to
improvisation consciously draws upon metaphors from
his experience in other domains. His interests outside
music include photography, writing,
science and technology, history and cultural studies,
and his
profession as an automobile designer.
